Ken, you sure brought new life to these old knives! Nice work, I think they all look better than when they were new. Woody

Wow! Since I'm a total blade freak, I'm really loving your treatment of those knives. Sure beats the old type handles. A Can't remember who it was and it's been awhile ago but someone here posted a link to a bunch of custom gemstone handled knives and I flat almost drooled myself to death......Mel

Nice work Ken! You did a great job matching the curves and the shine on the chrysocolla is fantastic.

Thanks for the comments guys. Mel, I posted some more knives a while back too. These are all custom orders to makeover older knives. Really enjoy doing them. Here is a picture of the Mexican, full length. Ken

Ken, just out of curiosity (and wonderment), do you grind the shape with the stone mounted on the knife, and if not, I'm totally amazed at how perfectly you matched the shape and tapers. Those are just outstanding.

Tom, when I took the old handles off, I used them as templates to mark my slabs. Ken

Wow. You really did nail the shapes. Even with templates. I've been sitting here, looking at my old pocket knife that goes everywhere with me, and just trying to imagine making a stone match that shape. I can't even picture it. I really admire your talent!

Great work. How do the handles attach? I don't see any rivets, etc.

I use Devcon 5 minute epoxy(2 part) to attach the handles. Been using it for 35-40 years and it WORKS and doesn't come off. Ken

Did the horse in my avitar in 1970 and used the epoxy then and it is still hanging on my wall and can't get the rocks off to replace the backing it is on. Backing is faded and needs replacing, but I am afraid I will break a stone if I take it apart. Ken

Thanks Ken. I gotta go look at my old knives. I didn't have any time before. Now I have to dream about doing my knives over "some day". You truly are an artist.
