I have found that usng a variety of plastic and ceramic media - even glass marbles in the final three phases helps get a great shine with the Lortone 3lb. Three seperate 7 day tumbles with 60-90. 7 days each in 220, 500, pre-polish, and A O polish. Followed by 24hours in Ivory Snow. I start adding the ceramic media and marbles on the third tumble in the rough and gradually increase it. I always add several teaspoons of the small plastic beads (fresh) to the final polish. This pix shows the mixed media that aid in a "soft" sliding tumble. Another view A few of the rocks My Favs Thanks for looking! Karock

Beautiful Batch! I keep the tumble cushioning (all varieties) all separated by the grit I use them in, in some plastic containers. Then, when I have another load at that level, I can use them in that load. Really worked nicely with that batch! Fran

You got a nice gleam on those with your method. That's a nice tiger-eye in the last picture, too.
Tom
PS - the cross-shaped media - is that ceramic or rubber? Only ones I can find around here are rubber, and they float like mad.

Karock - Great shine on those. I like how you have experimented with your cushioning media - tile spacers, marbles, etc.....very outside of the box way to tumble. Thanks for sharing your work! NSFY
