Julie, if those shine up to look the way they look now wet, OMG! They will be really stunning! I especially like the way you cut up the obsidian - it's going to show off the mahogany stripes extremely well.

Howdy Julie, Those are starting to look real pretty but a word to the wise. I see you have flats of some of the mahogany pieces and flat spots on obsidian, in my experience, are really tough to polish. Were it me, I'd roll all the stones much longer in coarse grind to eliminate all flats before moving them on. The rounder the obsidian pieces, the easier to obtain a good polish. Otherwise, the shoulders polish up real well and the flats will have a duller finish.....Mel

Mel is right about the flats, except that if you use lots of small and medium ceramic media it will help with the needed even friction points. The sure look nice with water. Success to you. Karock

Good Morning All!
When you are talking about "flats", do you mean the pieces with sides versus round pieces?
What I am hearing is that since the Mahogany is not round that the polish will not be as nice.
Now ... I understand the idea of not polishing well when it came to the Rainbow Obsidian I did in the vibe. It did not polish well as it was in a batch with mixed mohs. I put too much of a wide range of mohs and the Obsidian does not play well with others.
Need input as always!!

Flats = pieces that have large areas flat - could be a side or a back or a flat front Karock
