Good Morning!
I now have 5 tumblers going.
I just posted about the two babies and the 2 Lortone 3 lb(ers) are now in pre polish.
One batch is the Snowy Quartz I got from Raqy and I think they are going to be great! There are a couple of other odd balls. But I will show them when the batch is done, which will probably be in the next 2-3 weeks. This batch, as of today has been going 26 days.
The other batch is a mixture of purple goodies I got from MichaelJohn and some others similar in mohs. This batch is also (I think) going to be very nice. This batch should be done in the next 2-3 weeks as well and as of today has been going 33 days.
As always Julie

The white quartz comes out very nice.
I collected a lot of it in VT a few years ago and have done a few loads that came out great.
Good luck,,,

Dang Julie, you are a RTH dynamo - did you say 5 tumblers? Now thats a lot o tumblin. How do you track all of what you do? I only have two 3 pounders, but I have 6 barrels - 2 for 60-90 and one each for the other stages. What advantage would it be to me to get a vibe? Karock

It's funny about the tumblers.
I live in a very small place. My laundry room, headquarters for these buggers is about 5' x 5'. The tops of both the washer and dryer are home to them.
I started tumbling in January 2009 and now have the following ...
1 (one) twin 3 lb Lorton 2 (two) 1 lb Rolling Stones (plastic piece of crap barrels that wear out after 2-3 months ... but are cheap to replace) (my heart belongs to these monsters as they are the ones I started with. 1 (one) recently deceased Berry's Blue vibe (4 quart) (take a moment of silence for this little guy ... he gave his life for me or because of me ... I'm not sure)
My new vibe ... Thumler's UV-10 Industrial 3 quartz - 10 lb capacity. This thing is pretty cool.
I have recently gotten into the vibe usage (late May) and like everyone else am going through some serious growing pains.
I won't give up, this I know and I will continue to cry, snivel, and all around bitch because I know no matter what I will always get the best help possible from my RTH'ers. ;D
As always ... my humble thanks

Sorry ... forgot ...
Advantages with a vibe ...
At this point I am not the best person to ask as I am still learning. I think everyone that has experience is going to tell you things that appeal to them.
Make a post on the Rock Tumbling thread asking specifically what each person thinks both pros and cons of why they like vibes.
As always ... Julie
And ... I think that this is a very important thing to remember about any batch.
I keep detailed logs of all my batches. When I start them (date & time), what is in them, what and how much grit, cushioning, water, etc are being used. I also mark date and time that I dump a batch to check or just recharge.
In the future I will be able to look back (not that I can easily forget (so far) how all of my batches have gone) and see what worked, what did not, what was a complete disaster, what got salvaged, and what I learned.
