I decided to try my hand at experimenting with how to knock out those little irritating white pits!!
So ... at 5:30 pm this evening I took 5 pieces from my latest batch and put them into something to see if it works.
I will wait a couple of hours more or less depending the action or lack of within this little group of pretties.
We shall see ... TTFN

Well, I, for one, am anxious to hear whether it works, and if it does, what is the method? Waiting with 'bated breath, so to speak. Tom

Just did a little internet looking and found out sodium hydroxide (drain cleaner) will remove aluminum oxide for anodizing aluminum. Got any drain cleaner? Might work on AO polish if your in the experimenting mood.

Good idea sask, i've used this before to remove anodizing and theoretically, AO polish is the same as an anodic coating on aluminum so it "should" work.

Just be sure to wear gloves and don't breathe the fumes. It'll take your skin off. Make sure your eyes are protected, too. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sodium_hydroxide_burn.pngI'm not a nervous Nelly, I'd just hate to see somebody get hurt because they were careless with it. Chuck

Well that experiment was a bust .... well not totaling ... the 5 pieces came out even shinier that when they came out of the vibe. So ... it appears it took off any additional film/residue.
I tried sparkling water. I wanted club soda or tonic and they are the most carbonated that I know of and stay carbonated longer than denture cleaner or Alka Seltzer.
Now ... for the drain cleaner .... say what?!!!
Wouldn't this eat the rocks??
You guys never cease to amaze me .... ;D

Just be sure NOT to mix drain cleaner with bleach. Amonium Hydorxide plus bleach equals amonium chloride gas which will lay you flat. (maybe that would clean rocks. Someday I am going to try using my water pic and will let you know. Karock
