They look pretty good, even with the fractures! Don't feel alone! I have trouble with this too! But I am figuring it out, one step at a time!! I put a batch of timies in for polish last week, ran a burnish when they were done, and all I got was a matte finish, so back in to the polish they went, we'll see what a few more days in polish does for them, you however at least got a nice shine on yours. I would think another week, or maybe even 2 weeks, in either cerium oxide or tin oxide would put a much better shine on them. I bet the optical quartz would come out looking like clear window glass. That's of course, just my opinion --- YMMV! Tom

Well, they are lookin' real nice there Julie. The only suggestion I have for improvement is that the stones with fractures (like the one on the left in pic 5 and the ones on the bottom in pics 8 & 9) could have been rebroken/recut with saw once they were discovered.
Also, it looks like the pet wood may have been harder than the quartzite.
Like the purples and the clears though. You got mimimal chipping on the quartz. Good job!
