*L* Daniel, I hate to quibble here but the Texas or Western bow tie is the old four in hands/ string tie. Not really string tie like a bola which is, I think, a rather modern Arizona development (1940's) Texas bow tie is kind like a regular formal bow tie out of cloth but with long droopy tails hanging down. They sometimes call them string ties which leads to confusion with bolas but they're not actually string but just skinny cut fabric. This style tie is much older. I wouldn't know except I used to have one of them fancy Texas style western get ups.....Mel And not to belabor the point, but I've always thought that "four in hand" was a type of knot for regular neckties, an alternative to the Windsor knot; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four-in-handpuritan.kissblogs.com/blog/_archives/2006/6/8/2012730.htmlAnd low and behold- Texas has made the Bola tie their "official state tie". Also interesting that while Patents and trademarks were issued in the 40's and 50's there are bolo ties that are said to date back to the 19th century. I think I know the bow tie style you know as the string tie- like Col Sanders used to wear, right? But pretty much all modern references to "string tie" seem to point to the Bolo or Bola style. How on earth as thread about jasper spheres got moved onto ties...(?!)

Rally: You're right, that is the name of a tie knot too but the Four in hands is also a tie type. I'll have to trust you on the official state tie thing as I've never seen that anywhere but I must admit, they are popular here. That must sure piss the Arizona folks off seeing as how they claim they invented it *L*.....Mel

I'd like to see pictures of the core drill. Is it a Manta? It takes a serious drill to run 7" bits and bits need to be custom "soft matrix" bond to cut jasper/agates. Also, how long does it take to core through something that large? Sorry, I'm an equipment junkee.

I'd love some of the trimmings if there are any that aren't spoken for. Those spheres are going to be awesome. Jo
