Newbie question. If the wrong polish is used and results are not good, how far back in the process do you go to fix the problem and get in a position to use a different polish. All the way back to a rough grind (shortened, I imagine)?

Bob, If you achieved a good satin finish out of the prepolish and only the final polish failed, it's only necessary to wash off the rocks and put them in the new polish. If the rocks don't have at least a satin finish and appear heavily frosted etc but are still smooth, go back to prepolish or even fine grind if you think they need it. You don't need to go back to rough grind unless there are obvious scars, pits, or heavy blemishes etc.....Mel
