Dadgum, Julie, you made LOLLIPOPS! Those are all outstanding. Getting that kind of glow on obsidian in a rotary is .... well ..... impressive! Good on ya, girl!

AWESOME!!! How did you go back to "save" them, which step did you restart with? I have a small batch of tears myself that I'm putting to the side till I get more obsidian's to tumble with. Absolutely beautiful though!

Those look great. This makes me want to go do something with all my rough Obsidan I've been saving.

Nice job!
I avoided tumbling obsidian for a long time. I finally pre-formed about 100 pendants and took the plunge. I used Lortone 33B's only. I got a bit of advice from a lapidary I visit in TN occasionally. I was already using optical grade cerium oxide for polishing, but he suggested using tiny bits of leather to carry the polish instead of plastic pellets. Since I have a nice supply of leather scraps thanx to one of our wonderful members, I tried it out and got excellent results. They were quite popular at the craft shows this summer. Especially any variety thats somewhat transparent.

Now that is genius!!
I had not even thought of that ....
I will have to try it. Right now, in my Lortone I have a batch of Chrysocolla. The colors are spectacular. I did loss a bit more mass than I wanted but I still think the pieces are nice sized.
When I check this barrel again, probably tomorrow night, I will add a few pieces and see what happens. Being so soft, the leather is probably behaving like cushion.
Cool!!! Thanks Fanatic!!
