This is my second posting. I am new to this rock tumbling site and somewhat new to rock tumbling. I have read a lot of entries in every category, not all, but a lot. I have learned a ton of stuff from every contributor, weather question or statement of how, I have learned a lot. This is the first site I have decided to contribute to. I have several questions about the hobby and I hope I may be able to answer a few questions along the way. I am from Western Montana, love getting out prospecting for gold and sapphires, rock hunting, and just getting out. I’m retired, but still go to the family ranch to fix fence, work cattle, and put up hay. It gets me out looking for rocks and the ranch is covered with interesting rocks. There are agates, jasper, and petrified wood to mention a few. I also love to fish and hunt which also gets me out. Some of the agate I find is a blue gray color and some times has dendrite. I also find a lot of Jasper in the colors of yellow, red, white, and mixtures. I am starting to learn wire wrapping and will see if I can wrap these two stones. I have almost read all the wire wrap area and decided to get the equipment and supplies and try my hand at a very interesting hobby. I will try and put some pictures on when I am finished with them. This is a sample of what I am tumbling. I hope I did the pictures OK. Thanks Tom

Looks like you're already doing great in the tumbling area - and I see a lot of variety and some of my favorites in the last picture.
If you're anything like me, once you try wire wrapping, you're hooked! This whole hobby is both an obsession and an addiction. But tons of fun, and you will find wonderful folks, many, if not most, are experts and more than willing to share their knowledge.
Welcome to the addiction!
Tom

I'd say you've nailed down two of the basics; shape and shine. Your working material looks real promising as well. Thanks for joining, you'll like it here. We all want to see each other succeed.

Karock, I have a QT12 Lortone and a new UV10. The UV10 is on the prepolish, the QT12 is course. I may use the QT12 to do the course and the UV 10 to finish. Thank you all for your comments - this is a great site. Tom
