Howdy folks, I no longer live in southern California of course, but I just got a heads up from a buddy out there and know we have a few members local to the area. Big rough rock sale going on in Santa Paula ( east of Ventura) this weekend Oct 3-4. Apparently and old timer with a huge rough rockpile. Asking $1 per pound. Earl Harris collection. 9:30-3:00 pm each day.
Address is: 245 Elm Street, Santa Paula, Calif.
This sounds like a good one and I'm sorry I no longer live in the area.....Mel

Can't make it myself, but at $1 a pound you probably couldn't go wrong...

My buddy says it's an entire overgrown yard full of rock piles. Agate, nodules, obsidian. pet wood, fossils, mineral specimens etc. Last sale I hit in that area was rich with exceptional palm root rough. Santa Paula's just over the hill from the Mojave desert so usually these collections are full of good old time Lavic Jasper, Hauser Beds t-eggs and lots of southern California desert stuff. Definitely worth a look if you're in the area anyway....Mel

Mary Ann: The guys son doesn't live there and the rocks are all over an overgrown yard so the buyer has to go on a rock collecting trip in the yard. I don't think the son is a rock guy so I'm sure he wouldn't pick stuff out and mail it.....Mel

Wow, I too wish for a sale like this locally! Tony, rent a U-Haul and head out. Pick up Toad on the way, then swing up and get me and we'll make a road trip out of it! ;D Ah what the heck, just drive your car, and we'll bombard the P.O. with hundreds of flat-raters! Nate

Update- The only thing overgrown in the yard is the rock pile! It's majority is Obsidian and wood and some some really big pieces too. There are some 30#-50# boulders of wood and Mahogany Obsidian that would make really nice yard pieces. Most of the agate is run of the mill Mojave stuff. Greys, whites, and blacks. there is a pile af red and yellow Cady mountain stuff too. Lots of bins, milk crates and tubs of Hauser bed stuff, a couple of wash tubs of Apache tears and Oh yeah, lots of Wonderstone as well. I restrained and only brought home 52#

I saw this announcement through my local club ... Conejo Gem and Mineral.
I would have loved to have gone except ... money is tight and tight.
I am sure that there are going to be some happy people.
As always Julie
