I need a little help with a tumble. I just emptied my UV-10 with an assorted load of material. Overall, I was happy with the polish. The photos of brecciated jasper, carnelian, rose and girasol show a nice shine. The picture jasper came out with a matte finish and almost feels a little like fine sandstone to the touch. Does this material require special treatment? I used the basic vibe recipe with AO polish for 5 days on the last stage. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Darryl. That's about par for Pic Jasp in a tumbler. Actually, yours did pretty well in that tumble, they are a little soft to be bumping elbows with rough and tough Carnelian and your Lakers! Jo

That's about what my picture jasper looks like unless I polish it on the cabbing machine. Even then, it never looks like the other jaspers.

A lot of picture jaspers are porous and don't polish well. A lot look like dense sandstone as you said.

Yep, that looks like African Queen Picture Jasper. It's pretty variable in texture, mostly fairly coarse grained. Does pretty well with extra effort on the wheels but not so hot in the tumbler. Satin finish is about all I usually achieve....Mel

Love the colors of the brecciated Jaspers, esp the one in the last frame in the lower left that has the quartz band. very nice. Karock

Actually .... those Picture Jaspers look very nice.
Out of all the Picture Jaspers I have tumbled, they have come out very smooth and with a matte finish.
In my opinion, that is one of the neat things about the those jaspers. Their matte finish is what makes them so special.
I think they look great!
As always Julie

Mine have turned out the same as yours and they are beautiful but not very shiny. I am tempted to do a whole load of just PJ's and see if they come out any better with a ton of cushioning. Beautiful batch there! Fran
