I have a niece in the Baton Rogue LA area that loves finding rocks. So it dawned on me that with flat rate shipping from the post office I should have her help me in this hobby. She is around 10 yrs old. But I was wondering what type or kinds of rock would be located near her. Thanks in advance for the information.

There are few places in La to find good rocks. The west side has pet wood, the far east side has a few agates, I think. Don't know about B R.
Artifacts are a different story.

Have her check with someone from The Baton Rouge Gem & Mineral Society. They just returned from a field trip digging for rose quartz in Ga. Or you are welcome to Pm me and I will be glad to help.

WHOA! I'm in theFlorida panhandle and looking for prospects. Any easily accessible sites near I-10? It's about 5 hours for me and that's not too bad a day trip with a cou-ple of drivers.
Don't forget that the north part of the state is very near the great prospects of Hot SPrings, Arkansas.
