Hmmm, makes me wonder how they judged it so I guess it is very subjective like so many other things... I would love to see the final pictures of the others and I can't help but wonder if they followed all the rules like you did. Then again, 3rd is not bad but really, you should have gotten higher than that! Fran

The contest was judged FAIRLY!
The judges did NOT know which rocks belonged to who.
The rocks were numbered and thats all the judges saw.
It's just VERY hard for me to swallow after tumbling the rocks soooooooooooo many times in the rough stage.
If I continued to rough the rocks I would have nothing but sand left trying to get all the flaws out.
Dunno???
All I DO know is that I didn't win!
Thanks again for allllllllll you're support!

Then you did awesome as you took what they gave you and you gave them life.

Are there pictures posted somewhere? Several people said you should have won; I'd just like to see the other entries.
How many entered? 3rd place is great - especially if even a dozen other entrants were involved, and there were probably more than that.
I understand your disappointment, but congratulations on placing well.

Big Congratulation Tom . No matter where in line they placed your tumbles, they were first prize winners. The judges only saw shiney stones, how many tumblers posted for all to see? The level of integrity you put into yours and for that matter the inspiration you gave to others to continue and try to exceed their personal best, that is something that can't be judged because it is immesurable. I got a great deal from watching the tumbles you created and I thank you for it.

Congratulations Tom,
You did a great job on what looked to be a bunch of rough that was rubbish. I wouldn't be too displeased with third. Having done some judging all I can say that there is usually not much between the top three. I can email you the scoresheet we use here that shows you how tumbled stones are judged.. if you want. At the end of the day you did a great job and it would have been a close call
Cheers Scott
