Toad, I just cut a cab of that Turkish purple jade and was unable to get a very good shine on it. If you have any luck with your examples, I'd sure appreciate it if you'd post your polishing technique for this material. It flat gave me fits.....Mel

I got some purple Turkish Jade from Richardson's. From the saw cut it looked like it would polish. I think I saw some spheres in their shop too.
Anyway, I will try to dig out mine and get it working.

I have had great luck polishing jade with diamond paste on canvas pads. As good of a polish as I've gotten on anything else. Optical cerium does not polish it at all (at least the stuff I've worked).

HPD - I'm sure you were speaking of hand-finishing, but any thoughts on getting a polish in a vibe tumbler? Diamond doesn't seem practical. Usually my last step before polish would be 1000 grit silicon carbide. What next??
