Greetings Ladies & Gents, firstly "Opalkutz" may i welcome you to RTH, which part of the UK are you in? (if you wish to say!) There is at least 20 active members from the UK & several more that have not posted in the last 6 months. I have personally eyeballed the real "Jack (Yorkshire)" on 13th of September 2009, when he was on route back to home as he wished to that monstrosity in my signature. What is your experience level for both Lapidary & Geology? My skills are Geology = 20 years plus a 20 year gap. Lapidary as a whole = 12 years plus a 25 year gap. Flat lapping = 11 years, Faceting = 9 years, Cabbing = 12 cabochons & the 1st 4 of them were facets, Rotary tumbling = 6 years. If i do not use skills; i loose them & over time i may forget that i had even learned a skill, but i have at least have some written records especially on my Atari 8-bit computer. The skills that i have lost are slowly returning as i used them & re-learn what i wrote. -- I hail from (The Barony of Seabegs) Bonnybridge, Stirlingshire, U.K, where aliens sometimes come for a visit & about 4 miles west from this monstrosity! Hi ASI, thanks for the welcome, I'm on the south coast. I don't have much experience in cutting n polishing but I've been learning to cut Opal for the last 8 months, my favourite stone. I have about 12 years experience in gemmology and about 10 years in Opal. I got hold of an old faceter some time ago which is need of some repair but hoping to start doing some faceting in the near future with it when I get round to stripping it down. ;D

Greetings Ladies & Gents, "Opalkutz" there is very few members here & you could probally count them all in one hand at RTH that specialize in the high end of lapidary "Faceting". "zotika": Zoran is one chap that is currently active in faceting, Faceted Quartz! Also you may be interested that there is clubs that specialize within the field of lapidary that may be near you, but you will need to ask them what areas of lapidary they specialize in, some clubs do cater for all levels & budgets, Southampton Mineral, Fossil & Lapidary Society& Sussex Mineral & Lapidary Society others like my local club only specialize's in Cabbing & faceting Scottish Minerals & Lapidary Club! Gemology Online for faceting forums. -- I hail from (The Barony of Seabegs) Bonnybridge, Stirlingshire, U.K, where aliens sometimes come for a visit & about 4 miles west from this monstrosity!
