There is a lady here in town who really likes the "draped" look in her necklaces, which got me to thinking.....Tell me what you think. I will be adding a center bail to this, as it doesn't hang right without it, but this is what it looks like for now Here's just a few more I was able to get done Someone once said that the orange and red lakers are not a great quality laker....I think they are just too pretty! Thanks for lookin'!!! Marie

Wow. How much wire went into that? Lots of open-ends on the wire, are we worrying about clothing snags? Cool idea regardless.

Toad - There is quite a bit of wire involved, but in the end it's worth it I think. The woman who likes this stuff wears a lot of low low cut clothing, so not so much worried about the snags. The only think might be scratches, and I am working on that problem.....just not sure how to fix it. I was thinking maybe some solder or something, but I'm not completely convinced that would work.

Sounds like an interesting lady. :-)
I can't think of anything that would work that wouldn't change the look completely.

Marie - holy cow, you are really going waaayyy out there with this wrapping thing, aren't you? Man, that is one involved piece! I think it's really pretty - dittos to the open ends comments. An idea or two that I have, looking at the swag: Maybe take those open ends on the big loops, and curl them tight so they curl around the little wrap that's holding them. Another thought - maybe make the big swag, but wrap the stone separately, with a bail, and hang the stone into the swag so it can swing back and forth?
I'm just speculating here - that's a LOT more than I want to tackle that this point in my "education" - I couldn't begin to come up with anything like that. I'm envious of your talent and imagination. WTG

The stone was actually wrapped after the frame of the rest of it, then attched to the framing. My "talent".....is the computer. I can come up with ideas to do somthing, but when executing that idea, I have a hard time making everything "match" on both sides. I still didn't get that completely done with this, but.....it's close. So I came up with this other idea of printing the design off of the computer, then following it with the wire.......probably don't think I'm too talented now, huh? Like I said, I have the ideas....it's trying to make both sides of something look the same while I am making it. I usually wind up with one side shorter or the loops are off or something, so....this just made it a little easier! I am thinking maybe some crimp beads at the ends of the open loops? I am gonna try this, if it works, I'll post another picture so you can see it..........off to try

That's an awesome wrap- definitely unique and I love it. I wouldn't go with crimp beads though because those scratch the skin unless you cover them . They make a copper crimp cover though that would work. I was thinking what about those memory end beads? they are solid beads with one end open for wire. Glue them on with some jewelry glue? Think that might be a do-er.
Really really cool setting. I do like that.
P.s. rather than a center bail, how about attaching jump rings to the outer ends then connecting a copper chain? If one side is shorter than the other , you could always wrap in a small stone to even it up. I really do think that is one heckuva idea. Labor intensive but really neat .

I really REALLY love the first one - the wrap and the stone - The only thing I can think of for a similar wrap would be to tie down those loose ends (a little too late for this one because it would look lopsided if you did) but it's fabulous

Ok, this is what I did...but I think I took it over the top a bit, not sure if I still like it or not. I am also thinking maybe the longest loops on each side need to be shortened, or even clipped off. This is just a practice piece of some stuff I want to do, so it's ok if I play with it a bunch!! LOL

This shows alot of skill and creativity, it's very cool! I like the Swarovski beads that you attached to the end definitely goes with the style.
