I went to our rock and mineral society meeting last night and people had brought in things that they had found over the summer...Well, the president of our group went to an old house that he had not gone to in over 20 years and went through his stuff that he had stored there. This slab of blue Biggs was acquired 50 years ago from someone down on his luck so he paid him a few dollars for it, packed it away and forgot where it was all these years. My pictures were on my cell phone so they are not the best quality but I had to get a few shots of this beauty! Oh, he is also into Datalights so there are some around this beautiful slab. That card on the table is around and index size, maybe 3x5 to give you an idea of size. That slab is huge! Well, I really felt light headed after seeing something so beautiful in person so I had to share. Fran

Fran, Thanks for sharing that slab with the rest of us. You certainly don't see many slabs of Blue Biggs like that very often...Magnificent! Steve

Since Blue Biggs hasn't been mined in a while, it's getting harder to come by. I can't imagine what a slab like that one is worth, but I'm sure that someone could buy a nice used car with it. lol

Fran: That is one beautiful slab! The original Blue Biggs site still exists folks............there is a slight problem digging there. The site was found when a landslide covered a road. Today, youucan actually stop, and LOOK at the nice blue Biggs nodules in that roadcut. Now, should you actually dig, either the Oregon DOT, or the Highway Patrol will either have words with you, or arrest you, or both. Mosseyrockhound, and I stopped for a look earlier this month, and picked up some small pieces that had fallen off the cut. There was one huge blue nodule up the cut (vertically) that looked really good. (as in tempting). I just hope some of the small pieces I picked up will have something nice inside. I did cut one, and it was not exciting. Woody

Yep, that slab made me want to drool! I just love picture jaspers and the Blue Biggs always seem so nice! The only really nice slab that I have ever seen of the stuff with similar colors and pattern was only about 4x4 and had a price tag of $110. To say the least, I did not buy it. Fran
