Hey. I am from Alberta Canada and on a fixed disability pension and have developed an interest in tumbling and cabbing. I've managed to collect to pet wood and other things locally. I know it's a long shot, but if there is anyone out there with some starter equipment and materials they would be willing to donate to a good home I'd be more than grateful. Thanks for thinking about me.

I also have some rough I could send you free of charge. Have you looked at the DIY forum? If you have a drill press you can make a flat lap dirt cheap, and if you want a tumbler you could use a toilet plunger and a 1/100th HP motor with an eccentric weight.

Glad to have another enthusiast on the board. But don't you think you should get to know us a little bit before asking for stuff? There are lots of kind and generous people here that would be willing to help folks out - and probably with a completes set-up. But you're coming on a bit strong for me.

I agree with Toad. Lots of nice people on here. Heck I am still a newbie and just posting a regular post was offered some free material if I would just pay it forward sometime. Great bunch of people on this board.

Hey are you anywhere near Edmonton, AB? I'm in Sherwood Park. I'm a real greenhorn as well, but also on a fixed disability pension so I can relate to your problem.
I agree that it probably would have been better to get to know you some before hand, but if you're local we can meet.
If you're near Edmonton we can get together and I can share some of what I've collected. I haven't bought a tumbler or a saw yet. Still saving.
Happy hunting
Kevin

Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone. I just thought it would be best if I was up front. Have been floating around as a guest for a while certainly understand your concerns. Leadhand, I'm in Sherwood Park as well ... small world. Maybe we can get together for coffee. I'm PM the others back. Thanks for the kind offers and again my apologies to Toad and JoeMojave as well as anyone whose sensibilities I might have inadvertantly tread upon.

Just thought you were a little forward is all. Stick around, read all the different boards, and ask questions. I'm always willing to throw out an answer or opinion - just ask Randy, Marie, or anyone else.
I'm in the process of saving for equipment myself - but just can't stop buying rocks. But to be honest, equipment won't matter until we're set back up in a house. Hope you and Kevin (leadhand) enjoy all there is to learn and talk about here. Todd

LOL, everyone else minds too, but Randy is the only one that points it out to me. But he's nice to everyone else
