This last Saturday, a bunch of us went to an estate auction that included a few hundred boxes of rock collected in the early sixties. We had to bid per box then pallet, so it took a loooong time, with many bidders. Anyhow, here are some shots of what I hauled away. Good thing I bought the one ton truck......there were three of us filling it. Woody Sheep Creek plume, OR Burma Road moss, WA Brown's Ranch (Saddle Mountain) WA Hanson Creek wood, UT Clay Canyon agate, UT Dino poop Burma road Sheep Creek plume Hanson Creek wood Clay Canyon agate Ohio flint Dino bone Dino poop Ochocho green jasper Hawk's Eye ? I have got to know several of the auctioneers and estate sale services in the area and they let me know about their sales. Also, many auctioneers have websites nowadays.

Wow, great score Woody. That Sheep Creek is a real nice find. You'll have to post some pics of it slabbed up.

Beautiful stuff!! We just don't have stuff like that at auctions on the east coast. All of our auctions are used junk from garage sales.

Our auctions are industrial or farm. I have never seen any rock stuff. Which auction companies can I watch? I have a site that gives alot of auctions all over north america, but it would be a full time job to watch them all.

This was the first auction I have been to in about thirty years. A friend from our gem club told us about it. Most of the bidding was lower than the auctioneer liked (good for us) but two boxes of Montana agate went at $110.00 and $90.00. One box had only five nodules in it whilst the other had eight or nine. I know that I am happy with what I bought. Woody
