I pulled a load of quartz out of the UV 10 tonight and I am a bit frustrated. This batch had gone through the tumblers and set aside until enough had gone through the tumblers to have enough for a vibe batch. I added some preforms to the 500 grit stage and hoped they would hold up. Well, everything looked great until I put them in the polish. I suspect that the problem was the new ceramic pellets that had not been run before in the vibe. Although I have beautiful shine, almost every stone has an impact fracture or some undercutting. I made sure there were plenty of ceramic media for cushioning. I can't complain about the shine. That really took well! See for yourself. Here are a few that I like. This is a piece of self collected quartz that has inclusions that almost give a mossy look. Here is a light amethyst and then a citrine Here is a clear quarts with inclusions Some of the preforms. They undercut a bit and misshaped but over all, they are OK. This last one I was trying to catch the rainbow effect in the stone in the center. Almost but not quite. Thanks for looking! Fran

Really great shine on those - too bad about the bashings. Your theory about the new ceramics sounds plausible - I'll keep that in the back of my mind and try to avoid it. Although I have no more "new" ceramics!
Really liking the quartz pieces - they look great.

Sorry about the problems, but you have some nice looking rocks in there.

I love that included quartz! Self collected is the best and you found some beauties! Nice batch.

Very nice batch. I like the amethyst and clear water white quartz. I've gotten to where I won't use ceramics in the polish stage. I just tumble so I can get away with lots of tile spacers.
