Just a Buyer Beware for everyone. Seller 3312756 The Rocking Stones on ebay seems to be bad news. Funny that they have mostly good feedback, but I think they have a clever method on how to avoid negatives from customers.
I placed 4 buy it now orders with them for their blue opal, gem silica, "lemurian black jade" and ametrine. The reduced their prices for a sale so I thought, what the heck, even if 50% of this stuff is cutable the price is very reasonable, and since the gf loves blue dendritic opal...
The short version. I paid on May 1. Coming from Peru I figured 2-3 weeks. 6 weeks later, nothing. Several emails where they promised to send it. Finally it arrived in JULY. One badly fractured piece of the "lemurian" (I knew this was not a jade, but an ok black with pyrite inclusions, some very fractured/milky/uncuttable amethyst with a hint of yellow, some grey material with hints and swirls of green...opaque mostly, lots of matrix, not up to the weight purchased, and a few fragments of blue opal, mostly chips, much of it clear or white, not much blue, and almost nothing thick enough to cut, full of matrix, again, not up to the weight promised. Best of all, under examination, I could see the saw marks where they had trimmed out the decent material and left these scraps as rejects.
Suffice to say I was miffed but figured I would give them the benefit of the doubt. I emailed, told them I was disappointed, and that I had hoped that this would be good material since my lapidary students would all want some of this if of quality. Offered to send the stuff back. They apologized and promised to send replacement material. And I waited, and waited. THey said they had sent it, then recanted and said they would send it...Finally the day before I could leave negative feedback on ebay I contacted them and asked them to please tell me the real deal...and I decided to trust them and lose my feedback chance. Foolish me. Stuff never arrived. As of Sept 24 they were still saying they needed to send me my replacement material, but I had enough and sent in a dispute with my CC company. Surprise, these folks are contesting saying they sent what they promised to send. I'm really irked. This has cost me 4 times the money spent in wasted time, back and forth. What a pain. Saddens me since 98% of the time I have had nothing but great experiences with sellers. But there have to be a few rotten apples in the barrel.
Maybe I'll take some pics and upload examples of this junk. Might be pretty as specimens, but worthless for lapidary. ANd a really bad example of how to treat customers. Incredibly dishonest, and their game seems to be to delay until you can't leave feedback.
