I made this pen holder this afternoon. The pen and mount are from Exolite, the "pewter" figurine is from Ebay and the gold is 14k gold that I cut myself from scraps of my wire wrapping gig. It took about 15 minutes to cut those tiny pieces. I used 330 epoxy to mount the figurine to the Fancy jasper slab (Brazil), then I poured the rest of the epoxy into the prospector's gold pan and left it run out. Then I simply dumped the gold chips onto the display, let it dry, and dumped off the excess gold chips.....voila! ....... Three pics..... in the next two pics, look at the detail in the figurine!! How did I do? ;D lol

You know that is a pretty cool idea...Now you have to produce more to take to shows with you and you will sell them...Good job...John

Great idea and execution - except why is he dumping all his gold on the ground?

Randy,
You should send pic's of your project to Tom Massey, the host of the Gold Fever show !
That was a cool idea you had there and I just about bet he would have to have one !
Possibly more ! Send a letter with the pic's telling him how you like the show !

i love it. do you ever go to any of the gold shows? you'd sell tons of them there.
Try the New 49'er's. They have a store in their Happy Camp, CA headquarters. Dave McCracken is the founder & really knows his business. Also, pretty well any prospecting shop would be a good bet. good luck.

That's pretty cool. Gold gets any higher and I'd be panning for that gold.

I do like it. It remindes me of the late 70's. I spent a few years prospecting in the mountains(see them in one of my postings). My mule, Skeeziks is gone except for the memories. We moved a lot of dirt together. I would work the sluce and put highgrade in buckets and he would pack it back to camp where I would finish seperating and collecting what we found. We found around 22 oz. Great job Randy. Tom

I think it is very imaginative, and creative. Great idea to sell at craft shows, you might find your self busy selling those faster than you can make them! Really cool! Marie

Does he make any like the one in the pick? ....because I can't find them...anywhere!! I found this one on Ebay, none of the others have the detail that this one has.
