I have a friend with a Model B - 15 lb Capacity Thumlers Rock Tumbler. We don't have a local rock shop to get replacement belts. So I was wondering if anyone knew of a good o-ring size or another media we could pick up from a hardware or auto supply store as a replacement. I thought I'd ask here before we do the trial and error method.
As always thanks in advance for any help. Tom

"O"rings will work for a while but stretch pretty fast.
I don't know what type of rubber is used for the original "belts" but it does last quite a while and I run my 15 pounders just about constantly.
I've tried different composites of "O" rings but never struck on anything that could outlast the original so I just buy the replacement belts from a good source like the afore mentioned Rockshed.

Stick to the originals. They were about $5 and last a long time. Tell the friend to order lid gaskets also as they wear out fast. Any Thumler dealer should stock both belts and gaskets. I heard recently Thumler's didn't want to take retail orders but that doesn't seem right as they used to be quite helpful and sell direct. Most if not all distributors don't discount replacement parts.

I have used vacuum cleaner drive belts with success. They may be more expensive then the one you can get form John. Tom
