I don't belong to this club... I've never been to their show... I just thought I'd post this for others in the area... I'm gonna try to go. Later, jeri

I encourage everyone in the area to come to this show! Its one of the best in the St. Louis area, especially for kids.
I'm a member of this club (& Puppie96 was elected to our Board of Directors just this evening) & I'll be going to this show Friday & Sunday. My family will also have a display (our case's theme will be something like "Newbie Rockhound Family Field Trips") at this show. Friday afternoon, from 4 to 6, we'll be working in the kid's booth (helping them make rockhound starter kits), and I hope some RTH folks will stop by & say "hi"!

Jeri,
I'm sorry we'll miss you (unless plans change). I'm sure you'll enjoy the show anyway. Please look for the display cases near the entrance. Ours will be among them.

I hope that some other RTH folks are coming to this show. It is one of the best in the St. Louis area. This will be a good opportunity to get some Christmas presents (and/or bring someone along & show them what's on your list)! My family will be there at least Friday (probably the whole time it is open) and Sunday (probably from about 3 to the end).

I'm heading for the show in a few minutes. We'll probably be there until it closes tonight. I'll be wearing a green hooded sweatshirt & my blue St. Louis Mineral & Gem Society name tag. If you see me, please say "Hi"!
Ken, John, & Jeri: It looks like I'll miss you because we probably won't be there tomorrow. I hope you enjoy the show & that I see you @ another one!

Sorry you and Donna couldn't make it Ken... I did meet Puppie96/Deb at the front table... Enjoyed looking at the display cases. Which one was yours Brad?... Didn't buy much, usually don't. I go to learn a bit and look at all the pretties! ;D I did find out that a bracelet I haven't been able to find for the last year has Larimar cabs in it. Time to clean house and find that sucker! Later, jeri

I'm glad you enjoyed the show, Jeri! My family's case was "A Beginners' Collection". It was 2nd from the left.

I remember a case with that title. Had stuff from all over the area. So, um, what are the black rocks from the COR gravel bar? Later, jeri

Yes, mostly local finds. Some things from IN, KY, and Keokuk area. All things that our family found in our first 4 years of rockhounding.
The case to the right of ours (as you faced them) was exclusively local materials, though not all was found by the case's owner.
Some one told my wife those black rocks are goethite. I don't know if that person knew what they were talking about. I think my wife collected those rock, & I have not looked at them closely. I'm more interested in the pet wood, agates, & jaspers @ COR that I can tumble.
