Hi, I've been reading posts for a long time. I've learned a lot, but cooking coral in new to me. Would you mind explaining how it's done, and do you think it would work on any fossilized coral? I live in Michigan, and fossil coral is one of the most beautiful things I find when beachcombing on Lake Huron. Also, I would be interested in a trade.
You do beautiful work!

new cook thread is up and I dont think yours will cook. Is it like the petosky stone? if so then thats way to soft and not really a rock so to speak. This coral is silicified, its formed different than the fossil coral I would think, show some pics of what you have and lets see.I can have you cooking rock in an old grill in a day or so, you can even use a turkey roaster...take the pan out and fill with dry sand and put your slabs in there put the lid on and start at 200 and hold for a few hours to dry any moisture out. ramp it up 50 every hour .Most only go to 450 ,older ones go higher, hold at the highest for a day and ramp down and cool.
