Jo, we've done this in the past, but unlike Burro Creek, the rock is/was $2/lb for what we find.

I've been to Woodward several times. Fee is now $2 per pound for rock you collect and usually Woodwards is not one of those places where you really get large quantities of rough. Most rough is on the small size. Nodules are rarely very big and sometimes not all that easy to collect but often beautiful inside...Mel

Wish I could go again but it looks like its a no go this time. I drove in last year from Ohio and came in from Monohans, Ft. Stockton route to Alpine. Its a very nice drive and yes the speed limit is 75 not 80 I was driving 80 they did not like it lol. I stayed in alpine last year I had a kidney stone attack on the way down and felt it was wise to stay close to my own facilities if another attack occurred, thank god it waited till I made it back home. I think the room was 38 dollars 43 or so with tax. It was not the holiday inn but way nicer than what I seen at WWR lol. It was just off the route out to the ranch about 15 miles to the camp grounds Micky D's was behind the motel I could stop eat and be there in 30 min. Pull over on some of the pull offs the view is great, at night going back into town is also a must see. A trip out to see the Marfa lights is also a must along with a Marfa plume hounding expedition while you are in the area lol. I think most everyone who left late last year went trough Big Bend N.P. This would be the hi lite of anyones trip no matter what things they have seen before. Its almost a sin being that close and not going is all I can say lol. George

Oh, George - I wish you could make it this year. I'll miss your binoculars... S Looks like it's going to be a really SMALL group this year...D and D are in FLA and probably won't make it. No Ed...now no Ronda...no Gil? Last I heard Robert was going...that means it'll probably just be Dan and a friend, Robert, myself and Dave. Llana? Jeri - we'll be pleased to meet you. If anyone else cares to join us, especially you Texans - MEL? We'll be there under the stars amidst the agate. Jan's making briskit. S

I'm not completely out yet, just definitely won't be there for the full week. I'm hoping I can still get down there for W-F/S. Had my boss light a fire under her supervisors on Friday, lol.

I'm not going to be able to make it either. Had hoped I could get it all worked out, but as usual, something has reared it's ugly head.

Sorry you can't make it llana2go. Jeri - we'll be pleased to meet you. Me too! ;D I'm really looking forward to hanging out with other rockhounds! I started packing today for real! LOL I hate packing this time of year. Never know if it's gonna be warm or cold, so I packed everything clotheswise. I think there's still room for gear and sundry stuff. Glad I rented a full size SUV! LOL My husband saw me packing the sleeping bag and asked " Where are you going?" LOL We always stay in hotels, so he was surprised at the cold weather gear. Later, jeri

Uh-oh. How shall I say this? I will not be going this year. Wife and I have made other plans for this spring break. As much fun as it is out there, last year I didnt' spend the spring break with her so this time around we'll be heading out to San Antone, or somewhere away from home and away from the rat race. Sorry.

Rat Race? I'd hardly call El Paso part of the Rat Race! I won't be going this year either. But next year for the 5 year Blitz, I say all who were there for the first one HAVE to show up. MANDATORY!!!!!
