I aquired this piece of coral recently and was really suprised the shine that it took. It is a very pretty blue and the detail in the polished area is unreal! Anybody seen this before or maybe know what it is?

That is really pretty but I have no idea what kind it is. A friend just brought back a piece of coral she found on the side of the road in HI when she got lost and couldn't find her car....The coral caught her eye and pretty soon, she found the lot where she had left her car... Fran

Wikipedia has some info. Apparently from the Indopacific and of the genus Heliopora. Aragonite skeleton so it should polish pretty well but be much softer than agatized coral types. Cool looking material anyway.....Mel
