I declared this vibe batch to be "DONE". It contained, originally, about 30 preforms, a whole bunch of small agates from "superioragate" (Marie), a handful of old beach rocks, and some WF leftovers. Every day, when I rinsed and examined, I pulled out any preforms that looked like they were chipping or undercutting. Here's what was left. The whole batch, including all that ceramic filler: Marie's agates: The remaining preforms: Now the preforms, up close. First, an imperial jasper: A couple of goldstone (monkstone) from one slab: Both sides of a (rosetta/crazy lace?) agate preform: A set of what I think is Owyhee or maybe Wild Horse picture jaspers, all from one slab: I knew this was obsidian, but didn't realize it's rainbow obsidian until I took this picture: And there you have it. The recipe was 3 days in graded 220 SiC, 2 days in graded 600 SiC, 1 day in Lusterite II, and 3 days in AO polish. I think it worked pretty well. All the preforms that I pulled out have been dopped, and are now waiting for me to touch them to the Expando. Since I have a cold, and the temps are only in the upper 60's - lower 70's, I'll wait. I don't need pneumonia. Thanks for looking! Tom

Well Tom, you shocked me! I never thought goldstone and obsidian would survive with jaspers and agates! They even turned out great! You did a wonderful job! Fran

Hey, Fran, it kinda surprised me, too - I was expecting a lot of crazing or scarring, but it didn't happen. That all happened on the other stuff that I pulled out of the batch before it got too bad - some rhodonite, some jaspers, etc.

Great looking batch. Marie's agates sure came out nice, along with everything else. Looks like you got a good recipe for a super shine going on. I like how you lined up the Owahees too. Very cool. Steve

They used to call me the "Vibe Queen" way back. My first tumbler was a vibe and I fell in love. You can't beat a vibe for a superior polish. Even if you start a btch in a rotary, I recommend you finish in the vibe. Awesome batch, well done!

my rosetta stone have more reds and pinks in it, heres a pic. Pink Lace Rosetta Stone has a pink, white and peach coloration. It looks a lot like crazy lace agate, but it is a softer material and not an agate. I like yours also, very nice patterns in it. You did a great job with material i didn't think you could vibe. mary ann mary ann

Thanks, Mary Ann - of course, I only call it rosetta because that's what the seller called it on eBay - I really wouldn't know rosetta from roseacea if it bit me on the nose! ;D Thanks for the kind words.
