Hi folks, I'm new here. I have tumbled several loads now, and in a couple loads were Lake Superior agates with quartz centers (together with jasper and petrified wood). The agates polished great, but the quartz parts are duller. Can anyone tell me how you polish such agates and get both the cyrptocrystaline, and the crystaline parts to polish the same?

Mine either do or don't polish well. Most of the time they do, tho, you may need to leave them in polish a bit longer? Did you run a burnish afterwards? Sometimes this can make a big difference too, trust me...I learned the hard way!!! LOL Marie

Yes I burnish/wash when I switch from grit to pre-polish to polish, and at the finish. Every time I do that I'm amazed at how much better the stones look than before the wash.

Hmmm, then I would have to suggest another run in polish. That's what I would try first. Someone else is bound to chime in here, but if another polish run doesn't work, you can always take them back to pre-polish for a few more days, then polish again. This can help if the prepolish didn't get the job done the first time around. Marie
