One of the things we do is to make beaded necklaces with focal beads that we make and drill ourselves, and using recycled (Re-purposed) copper wire along with the beadwork on the necklace. Elizabeth got started with re-purposed jewelry a few years back and that's what led us to adding the stone work. Here's an example of a necklace with hand hammered beads and a drilled cabochon focal bead from some possibly Brazilian agate. Lee

Cool idea Lee! I'm not familiar with "hand-hammered" beads, but I'm assuming those are the copper ones. Nice piece of Brazilian too.

The hammered beads are Elizabeth's creation, she calls them coiled tube beads. She hammers the electrical wire flat then coils it over mandrels. Since the copper conductor wire is so soft you can do quite a bit with it before it gets work hardened and brittle.

That's a gorgeous necklace. A lot of people frown upon drilling a cab, but I don't have a problem with it used in a less fromal piece as this. The hammered/formed beads are really cool too. Great work!
