I'm cooking the turkey tonight for the feast tomorrow, so I figured I had PLENTY of time to slab some rough! Here's the group shot. Not a ton of cuts, but enough to keep me busy for a while... Here's the break down : Root beer Agate from joemojave Boysenberry Jasper fro MJ Labradorite Rhyolite from New Mexico a friend collected for me. Montanas - dropped the little guy... GRRRR! Gold Sheen Obsidian from Jason (rockhound97058) Silver Sheen Obsidian, also from Jason Midnight lace from Jason Hope you like them! Nate

Thanks Fran. I was cabbing some of it today, but my hands were almost numb from just preforming them. It was 40 degrees out and even the warm water in the drip system for my lap was cold by the time it hit my hands, so I had to quit. Had to head out for the feast too... Toad, I had purchased that jasper from Michael John early this year. I'm kinda surprised you haven't seen it. Here's a picture of a cab I made for my wife with it:

You got a bunch of really nice slabs there, Nate - hopefully you'll get a few "heat wave" days so you can cab some more of it!

Lol, thanks Tom. We had the heat wave last weekend. The temps were around 60 for a high, and that's probably twice the normal temp. I just need to get my lil' mr. heater hooked up and go from there.

The mystery rock looks like a rhyolite, maybe an agatized rhyolite?

That Boysenberry Jasper is nice solid material for a rookie cabber like me.I was lucky to get one of his last boxes.

Thank you, Lee. I have no clue what that rock is, so I'll call it agatized rhyolite. It sure is hard! I bet it'll cab nicely too!
Mike, I got a few nice pieces form Michael. I just ordered a small flat rate box from him. I'm glad I got it, as it is very nice to work with. That was officially my first cab ever, and I have no complaints.
Mark, thanks for the compliment. I haven't seen Michael on here for quite some time. It would be nice to see some of his offerings again. He had nice material for sale.

Hey Nate, I forgot to say that unknown does look like a ribbon rhyolite and that can be around a 6 MOH. The Montana that broke just wants to be a couple of "drop" pendants.... ::)Ya, I know, don't quit my day job. ;D Fran

LOL Thanks Fran. I actually split the middle sized montana in 2 pieces too, so they must want to be cabbed that way. Drop pendants would be nice, I'll have to try that.
Rhyolite it is! I'll change the caption on the photo.
Thanks,
Nate
