Just received a large flat rater from JCINPC . It contained 2 great looking Coral heads and the rest of the box was jammed full of heat-treated spalls ready for knapping !
If the dear wife will stop adding to the Honey-do list I just might get to sit down one of these nights and get to play with some of it !

i had a piece of fl coral so big i hadda roll it off my truck to give it to kim haha -- post a pic id like to see it to see if it looked like mine

yea the big piece is close to the one i got in fl for kim maybe a hair smaller but close -- it does look the same i have a few smaller chunks here for slicing i gotta dig them out and see what they look like slabbed -- i remember inside the core was realy hard bet it makes some nice cabs

its a 7 on the hardness scale and yes they make beutiful cabs, I cook most of them though to get a color I like

I got a box from jcinpc just before thanksgiving that was really loaded and had real nice stuff in it.
I just put some of it in the tumbler 3 days ago and am really looking forward to see what it looks like. The rest will have to wait til I have a saw to cut it with.

Glad you like it! Maybe your daughter needs one of her own! Have to be patient on the saw. Do you have to have a permit or something to collect your rocks or are they just there for the taking for anyone who has the ambition go get it?
