Last year we came across this rock. We had a contest to name it but i forgot. Senior moments....... So i call it what ralph named it last year....... Pumpkin Rock, Sheri will remember. lol ;D I just got some of it back so heres some slab from it. Each rock has a differnent patten, its wierd stuff but fun. Its not often you see orange in a rock. Its a little softer material but still polishes.

Mary Ann, could this be the same material? If so, I won the contest, tied with MJ, and you sent me two slabs because he gave his to me. I called it Inkblot Jasper. It's really nice to work with.

I have looked all over the internet and I am sorry, I can't find a rock called Pumpkin Rock, Is this something you came up with? So now when I go to buy something it's not really what it is, it's what someone made up and thats not the real name? So, how do I find what I want, if thats not what it is?

Delta, many of the stones we discuss on this board have been nicknamed here for purposes of everyone knowing that this particular stone was found by someone and/or came from a particular area. Examples of this are Steve's Echo Stones and Woody's Ghost Wood (many more I can't think of right now I'm sure). Sometimes members have run contests to nickname a new material with the winner getting some of the material. Perhaps Ralph and Mary Ann can help you zero in on this material or something similar. Sorry it has been confusing, hope this helps. Jo

sorry delta, but this rock was something a friend of your found last year in Az. i had a contest on the board to give it a name. The winner named it Inkbolt, which you won't find anywhere on the internet either. jo, describe it well. Its kind of a soft material, but does take a shine. Ralph came up with the name pumpkin rock last year because of the color. I'm not trying to mislead anyone, there is only a small amount, maybe 100 lbs. and thats all he found. i just talked to my friend last week and this rock in the rough had some silver in it so someone went and took all the rough to chip out the small pieces of silver. Its gone now, i just have a few pieces left. I hope you understand and again i'm sorry. mary ann

Love the punkin stone and you take great pictures. I look at google maps a lot and like to zoom in and out on terrain. Looking at these slabs (and many others on this board) reminds me of those views.
