After promising a piece of B/O to me mum for her birthday I thought I better wrap it. I had only tried one disastrous wrap before so I thought practice was in order. I picked a nice Koroit and heres the result, I still haven't done mums yet and her birthday is today. I dont know whether to do it with silver or practise more with copper. What do you think?? Special thanks to Randy for the fantastic tutorial...ppork

Cool and funky Ppork. It might help to make sure the ends of your binding wires are on the inside (closest tot he stone). Prevents snagging.

I am not a huge fan of copper but I have to say that this wrap and the copper matches the pattern in the stone quite well. I think it is really pretty. Like Jo said watch the wire ends, or take a small file and file the ends smooth so they don't scratch or catch on clothing.

Some days are gold, some are rocks. Either is cool.

What a beautiful stone! And the copper goes so well with it. The only suggestion I have is that there is too much wire & it tends to overwhelm the stone. But then, that's just me. Good luck with your Mum's. Jo

Looking good! All you need to do is keep the wire ends on the inside of the wrap so it will not catch on clothing. If his is just the second, you are doing fantastic and you need to get started on the one for your mom! Fran

Beautiful stone. The wrap certainly has a lot of wire, but to each their own. I actually think silver would go better with it, as copper kind of runs in the same tones as the stone. I think the contrast would be striking.

i don't wrap so i shouldn't say anything, but i have to agree with too much wire, and silver would look better. mary ann

The wrap looks great! Here's a couple of tips..... The binding wraps have too many turns. I use no more than 4, but usually 3 turns, and 5 at the bail, that's why it looks like too much wire. Aside from that, very good job and really cool design! My earlier ones were different, but I've learned what makes them looks the best, less wire! Check these out, some of my later work (look at the binding wraps) ....... forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=wwp&action=display&thread=33312

I use 22 gauge square wire (dead soft), and for the binds I use 1/2 round, 21 gauge (half-hard). This seems to be the best combination for any type of wrap.
