Took these pictures in October while hounding for agates. These two chucks were in a little draw several hundred yards from the road. You can get a idea of the size by the Geo Pick laying on the one. The other one is smaller but still very heavy. There were a lot of spalls laying around both chucks so it is my guess the Indians used some of this material for tools. They are located above a large flat valley that probably was a lot moister a couple of thousand years ago Enjoy!

Yeah, get it the pack straps up, then get yourself into the straps, roll over on the tummy,, get your butt up, then stnd up and haul it back to the truck, or do what I do, get yourself a plastic snow sled, one of those roto moulded ones made from slippery plastic. Then you can slide it back to the truck.

Ways of moving these rocks - Part 1 Hmmmm, You could chip them into wheels, stick an axle between them, and roll them back to the road Fred Flintstone style... Part 2 Build a catapult and sling them back to the road. Part 3 Tell a novice park ranger you were illegally collecting petrified wood and that this stuff should be confiscated. Once the material is identified as not being petrified wood, you just roll your truck up to the ranger station and say you'll be taking your finds home... Part 4 Just build your house right behind that top stone and move your collection and family there. That's one way of collecting material without actually moving it... Part 5 Paint the rocks so they look like cows. Wait for the aliens to come to take them away. When the aliens realize they've been fooled, they drop the rocks. Now, the bad part of this plan is two-fold. #1 - The rocks may fall farther from the road. #2 There may be alien laser marks on them from the attempted mutilation. (For those who don't get this entry - look up alien cattle mutilation on wikepedia...if it's not there, make up something. Everyone else does...) Any other bright ideas out there?

Another way to get those is if you have a go anywhere toyota like me you put it in 4 wheel low range and drive right to it! Then you have to think real hard about picking up a couple hundred pounds and setting it in the back LOL. Toyota's also work great at bypassing Forest Service road blocks ;D and pulling out other makes and models of trucks LOL. Or you can get one of these and lift it! Just shy of 1 ton piece of agate my buddy and I dug off his property a couple years ago.

Thanks for all the creative ways to get that stuff down the hill. Think I can get that done with the plastic sled idea, but getting into the truck is a diiferent matter. The Ford 4x4 is pretty far off the ground. I'll have to figure out a ramp system I guess!
