Currently it's -14 in Colorado Springs. I just checked my vibes and they are freezing up. Good thing this batch is ready to come out. In the past I have but a storage tub over my vibes to keep them from freezing. Looks like I better go look for that tub... The rotary barrels are still tumbling.

Boy, that is cold! Are your tumblers in the garage and it still gets cold enough to freeze? Yikes! Fran

maybe try building an insulated wooden box to enclose the tumbler, put an incandecent light bulb in there (like the old chick incubators). The bulb and motor should keep it plenty warm in there.

I generally put a big plastic storage tub upside down over my vibs and let the heat from the motors keep them warm. I got caught unprepared with this early coldsnap.
I've been planning on enclosing the wooden shelf that holds my rotaries with some masonite and build some doors. The 1/3 hp that runs my rotaries puts off a good amount of heat.

That is cold...surprised the whole thing didn't seizeup.
We're finally getting some real cold around Boston...wind chill in the single digits this morning but nothing like the Your area or Jackson or Butte, thank God

Man am I glad I have a "dedicated to rocks" room inside the house. We've been below -0- temps for 4 days, with the wind howling like crazy, so the wind chill factors are way below that. I would hate to have to go in to the cold to play with my rocks!!! Keep'em warm! Marie
