Diamond Pacific has a pretty nice explanation of gravity feed slabbing on page 40 of their catalog (available on line).

Nice bunch o slabs! Rock saws are generally all cranky bastiches as far as I'm concerned. I'm not the mechanical sort and they just generally make me want to put them out in the yard and pump a few rounds into them to teach them a lesson. I actually did get so damn pissed at my old Lortone drop saw that I threw it out in the driveway and smashed it up with a sledge. Dang thing was a piece of garbage from the beginning and messier and harder to clean than any saw I've ever seen. Person who designed that bastard should have been shot.....Mel

Those slabs are great looking and it is good you know what you are doing with your saw...I only have a tile saw and I really have to watch being heavy handed with that! Fran

Yea Mel. Me three or four. Donna and I both have 14" lortone drop saws and they work great. Just wish they could have a cover over them. Very messy to clean out. Donna's is modified with a hole in the pan to drain the oil into a 30 gal drum with a filter system and a pump on it about 6" up to pump the fluid back up to the saw. Nice setup.
Nice bunch of slabs. Like the owyhee. Ken

Mel, Good thing you moved to Texas. Smashing things you your diveway is not allowed in California, but in Texas that is common place. LOL
