Gulldang it's freaking cold in my shop today! I managed to go out and cut for awhile anyway as I want to get a few slabs from here at the ranch to cut a suite of stones for a presentation I have to give on the ranches rocks and fossils. Anyway, here are a couple of pics taken dry. Thanks for looking....Mel Rootbeer flint from the Comanche quarry on the hill across from my house. This stuff is really hard and that new MK Criterian cuts it but it has has a pretty rough time. Stromatolite?? from out by my wellhouse. This stuff is harder than tacks too but takes a fine polish when tumbled, so I figured I'd try a couple slabs for cabs.

Good looking slabs. When are you giving your presentation? I changed the grit on my loto and about froze my fingers. No way would I hang out in the garage to cut rocks right now.

Jeff, The presentation is for the ranch garden club and my wife knows the date *L*. I think it's in February so I have a little time to cut some cabs. I'm with you on the tumblers. I have 23 cabs ready to come out of the vibe but the water's so darn cold I just couldn't get enthusiastic about changing the tumbler this afternoon.....Mel

Those are really "cool" looking to go with the weather. We will have about 19 degrees tonight and it was pretty icy all day today here! Now as bad as some places though! Fran

Man, I used to metal detect all the time. I'd be doing a happy dance if I ever found an old Spanish coin. That must be super cool!......Mel

Yeah, Mel, this winter sucks so far, doesn't it? Gad, I hate cold weather! Been a while since it has been this cold in December! That usually doesn't happen til January!
I have my tumblers in the house and use buckets. I'm not about to do anything except walk from the house to the truck or walk the dogs when it is this cold! I'm a cold wimp!
Suppose to be in the 70's and sunny Saturday. Sure hope so!
BTW, cool slabs. I love flint.
