So, realistically speaking, how cold does it need to get before I should start worrying that it's too cold for my rocks to tumble because of the water freezing? Will it happen with prolonged temperatures that are just below freezing, or do things have to get significantly colder than that? We've had weather in the Low 20's here for a week straight or so, and it only really occurred to me today that there was a chance that I maybe shouldn't have kept the rocks going.

I would say open one up and see how it looks. It may be that you have some ice cubes going. Are they in the garage or something? Maybe you can make a Styrofoam half cover to help keep in the motor heat. That may be all you need. Fran

If you can box in the heat of the motor, as Fran said, that will help keep things warm - especially with a lortone. Do you have a thermometer where the barrels are rolling? It might be warmwer than you think.
