Just checked the one and only batch I have right now and see that I lost a little more mass, but I still think that the pieces will come out.
For those of you that are lost by this post .... you should be. I have been really bad about posting pictures.
I got this amazing box of goodies a bit back and in it were some of the oddest black and blackish rocks. These rocks were all pitted like and the surface consistency is much like a sandstone.
BUT .... the markings are of a true obsidian.
These rocks look like Mahogany and Snowflake. But ... because of the consistency I have no clue.
I just pulled the batch out of 120/220 and have thrown it into pre polish and if they come out how I think they will. OH DAM!!! they are going to be pretty.
Time will tell ...

Obsidian is volcanic glass so exterior can be very weathered.

That would explain the extra mass loss.
