Hi gang,
Well after many, many, many mistakes, frustrations and distractions I finally got this knife finished.
I bought the blade rough from northcoastknives.com/ and sanded and polished it to a mirror finish.(i don't want to mislead anyone into thinking i make my own blades,,,,not yet anyway)
The trout was carved and given to me by an old friend Jay Milliken of Vermont.
It was then air brushed by yet another old friend Mike Maximenko from CT.
(is that word "old' coming up a lot here?)
The handles were slabbed from a Queensland agate which was given to me by a not so old friend Darren Jones of Australia. He also gave me the opals for the insets in the handles.
I might note that finding a Queensland agate big enough to cut 2 handles out of is kind of rare.Darren is a great guy and a true friend.
The driftwood came from my mom who used it for her African Violet displays at shows she attended around the USA.
This photo is one of many I took (per Adrian's request) but after taking almost 200 photo's I have a LOT of editing to do (thanks Adrian)
I plan on burning the photo's onto a disk and giving it to my grandson Joe along with the knife/display.Time WILL tell!
This knife is actually my second attempt at making the same knife.I managed to do so much damage to the first blade I had to scrap it and while drilling the handles for the insets I cracked one and had to scrap them both as well.
I will post all of the photo's as time allows,,,,,
Merry Christmas,,,
