That is a nice opal! One day I am going to have to try some of that. Don't feel too bad about having trouble with the bail. That part seems to give just about everyone trouble. I know I had a hard time learning to get that part to work right. Keep practicing, and studying all the tutorials you can find. That is what I did, and, I finally found a method that works for me and my ten thumbs!

Is that half hard wire or dead soft? It makes a big difference I have found! I would say that the main thing is to tighten up the loose ends so they don't snag on clothes. I would tuck the ends or just try to tighten and that should take care of that and anyone that is getting that one, will really appreciate it! Fran

Looking good, PPork! You could go with a smaller gage wire next time so as to be sure and not overwhelm those beauty stones. But, for now, a bigger gage is easier to learn with. T

Thanks for the tips. at the moment I only have one wire and I didn't have anything for the bindings which is why I used the red craft stuff, What would be a good assortment of wire to get if I was to do a bit more wrapping. thanks ppork

I hope you keep at it because soon, your wrapping skills will match your Opal cabbing skills.
I use 22 guage square dead soft silver and bind with 22 gauge 1/2 hard 1/2 round but I know a lot of members here bind with 21 guage 1/2 round so it might be a matter of personal preferance.
That wrap is a wonderfully thoughtful gift.
