Well, I just started wire wrapping again tonight. I just posted my first wrap in the wire wrapping section since October. Anyhow, the reason was a table saw accident, I was careless that day and this was my first injury ever with a power tool. If y'all wanna see, scroll down for the pic of my stitched up thumb. It hurt as bad as it looked. ;D lol (it's all better now) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Wow, that had to hurt! I bet you wished you hadn't done that. Next time, don't do it the NAVY way. We puddle jumpers have to show you guys everything! Lost any feeling, or is it too soon to tell? I got a cut like that once. I cannot feel where it was, it healed completely. No nerve damage. I was lucky. Nothing more than that. Just plain lucky. Cut it to the bone.

Randy,
I feel for you buddy, I did exactly the same thing on the opposite hand. I was luckier than you tho, I used a band saw, they have a narrower blade and don't remove as much material !
Ya get more slabs per digit that way !
I would remind you NOT to bump it for a few months but as clever as you are I bet you got THAT one figured out already !

YEP! Looks just like my husbands fingers did after the table saw attacked him! He got 3 of 'em! Looks like it hurt like crazy, as I can well imagine it did! I can STILL hear that "ping" sound! Ugghhh!!! Glad you're back to wrappin' tho! Marie

Next time, don't do it the NAVY way. LOL, I almost went to general quarters when it happened. Yep, "ping"..... this one went to the bone too, I think that's what the ping was. ;D

You were lucky Randy. My BIL has 3 1/2 fingers on one hand because of a table saw. He didn't get the safety award that year. ;D

OUchhhhhhh. that made me cring when I saw your thumb. I grew up around table saws and hanging saws and such. My daddy had a lumber yard and a sawmill and someone was always getting hurt. Hope you heal fast and no more pain.

The thought of your injury makes me cringe. I am glad you are better now.
Wood blades are not as forgiving as diamond rock blades.

Funny you should ask, Cathy did indeed remove the stitches. The tip of my thumb has all of the feeling, and one little sore spot that get a little better each day. There is barely a scar and eventually I think that it will feel like nothing ever happened. I kept it very clean and wrapped and applied neosporin each night. Table saws aren't my favorite tool, I never have liked them. Radial arm saws scare the hell out of me!

Worm drive circular saws give me chills. When I was building guys would chock the guard open with a shim. Macho until you lop off an appendage. The worst one I saw was a guy who shot himself in the kneecap with a big framing air nailer.
Looks gnarly Fonz!

We had a guy shoot himself in the femur with a framing nailer..... first day on the job! He was out for 6 months on workman's comp. I'm sure the kneecap was much worse, I can't even imagine that one.

Ouch! I know that hurt. Been a carpenter all my life, but never have I got cut. Been shot several times with the nail gun, though, and that hurts bad enough. Hope it heals completely for you. Keep wrapping anyway. Ken
