Egads, that bat cave is striking!
How much guano must you wade through to get that stuff?

This is the first tumble I've seen from you and it is from a rotary. Outstanding! The Bat Cave is killer but I like the two Biggs in the bottom pic the best.

I just started tumbling because my mom in law bought me a few tumblers and I was just showing her this great sight, we both feel silly asking this question but are these rocks actually from a "bat cave" or is that a "code name" for insiders? Eggwodd.

are these rocks actually from a "bat cave" or is that a "code name" for insiders? Eggwodd. The primary collecting location for this material is a series of caves in the Ochoco Rim, just outside Prineville, OR. All the times I've gone, I have not seen any bats. Then again, I have not gone into two of the main caves for safety/equipment reasons. Cave collapse and rattlers are a real problem there. The main cave requires repelling gear just to access the entrance. Dan

Is the bat cave material a jasper? I think it is a jasper. It is a silicified layered material and cuts like a jasper. The Black layer is as hard as porcelin jasper.
