Every since I married my wife 15 years ago, whenever we would be outdoors I would pickup rocks and say "This would look cool if you polished it,I bet" Well for Xmas this morning I received a small tumbler, I guess its time to find out. I'm sure I will be back with lots of questions. ratbitw

Well, you are in a good location to pick up bits of agate, jasper, petrified wood, and even some jade. If you are ready to jump in and find out more about the rock you are finding, you might like to go to a meeting of your nearst rock club. Membership is quite low as far as clubs go (ours is ten whole dollars a year, Kitsap Mireral & Gem Society). In the clubs, you will find many very experienced folk that will just about bend over backwards to help new comers in any aspect of the hobby you might be interested in. Then, the clubs have organized field trips tocollect rock, and have fun, Woody

Welcome. I just found a rock I picked up at the beach as a lucky stone. Guess I got bit by the rock bug the same way :-) Ed
