This is what I did after the meal, the desert, the snacks, and the re-heats! LOL Photobucket is messed up or something, couldn't get it to let me crop the pics down....So, guess I just have to live with it, don't have to like it, but oh well. Hope everyone out there had a VERY Merry Christmas!! Yellow Jaspelite Jasper? Lake Superior Agate Don'tknow it Lake Superior Agate Laker in Hematite Don'tknowit Don'tknowit - Finally got that weave down, I know it still needs some work, and practice, but I finally got one to turn out 1/2 decent. These are wrapped with parawire. explanation for it: I realize that a lot of folks here use gold filled, and sterling for their wraps, which I think is awesome. I am 1 of those people who could not ever afford to spend 60.00 on a pendant, and I know there are a lot of others out there like me, in fact most here in town right now. I also cannot afford to buy the expensive stuff, and have to "sit on it" in the hopes it will sell at some point, so I am an economy thinker. I use the same phylosophy in my cakes, I want to bring an "alternative" to this, something that looks nice, and wears well, as well as being affordable - to folks like me. I will leave the expensive jewelry making to the pros here ;D Thanks for lookin' everyone! Marie

Maria you did some great wraps, it is a shame that they aren't in sterling or gold filled, they would make great heirlooms to be passed down. I know what you mean about the investment I went to a local shop to pick up a couple of ft. of gold filled and it was $4. a ft. People that buy my wraps won't look at them unless they are in good wire, so if I want to sell I have money tied up, if I use cheap wire I just waste my cabs. Rough on wrappers, unless you have money to invest, which I don't, guess that is why I am out of wire, and not ordering any for a while. Donna

I have had decent luck with selling the inexpensive wire wraps, just because people in this area just do not have money to spend on "good" jewelry. Not to mention that they are mostly country folks, and only get dressed up once in awhile. Last summer I was putting those glue on bails on to tumbled lakers, and selling them for 2.00 each...went like hotcakes! BUT, if I put much more that 10.00 on something, they look at it, say it's pretty, and move on to something cheaper. I guess it depends on the area you live in? I don't know. Thanks Donna, I've seen some of your stuff, and I don't even begin to compare in workmanship!! Marie

Yeah Tom, I failed to get the right angle on that one or something, cuz the stone is honestly yellow, and silver! It really is some pretty stuff tho, regardless of whether it likes it's pic taken!! LOL Thanks BTW, I wish silver or gold filled was in my near future, but I keep looking at the stuff, and no matter how hard I try to justify buying it, I just can't seem to do so. In person, and I think in the pics too, this looks just like sterling, has the shine, and everything, and I can get it in square wire, which is also a plus! Thanks! Marie

You do real nice work. Using silver does get expensive. The bindings do not appear to be half round but you do not seem get any "roll". What's your trick?

Thanks Mike! Stonewizard - To get the round wire to work with out rolling, I had to learn to use a VERY light touch when crimping, and I crimp after each wrap around. I figured out (the hard way) that if I squeezed too hard, boom! there goes that rolling! Once I have the binding all in place where I want it, I will crimp again, but not too tightly, or it will still roll on you, Just tight enough to make sure the bind is gonna stay in place. Every once in awhile I still will get the roll, cuz I wasn't paying attention and squeezed too tight, so I have to rip it off, and start over. Hope that helps! Thanks ! Marie

Thanks Marie, even when I think I am being very gentle I guess I am still to heavy handed. I know, practice, practice and then more practice.

The wraps are beautiful Marie. I know what you mean about the price of silver and gold wire. Just a few short months ago the price was really low. Maybe when it drops down again, you might get some. But it doesn't matter what wire you use as your wraps come out beautiful anyway.
