hi there, i have been following your fabulous website for some time (but to shy to make posts) - checking out the daily posts in RTH has actually become addictive, i need my daily fix of checking out the pictures and information here, so many extremely talented and knowledgeable people i have just recently starting posting, i would like to post pictures too, but am having trouble getting the photos to be of the quality i would like, I will keep working on this.

Welcome Carl. Keep working on it. Outside in the shade on a cloudy day works best because the light is diffused. You could also get a lightbox (inexpensive $20) on ebay. Lighting can change the color of rock so adjusting your white balance is helpful. Good luck and don't be shy! Only a few of us bite. ;D Jo

Welcome. Don't worry about posting, these people are all a great bunch, I have never received such positive replies to some of my very basic questions. I am getting smarter in gems and rocks, but a long way to go. ;D Happy New Year. Ed
