Did these today, while waiting for the plumbers to show up. (They haven't yet.) These are mariposite in silver wire. I mounted them on a card, which will show my vendor number, catalog number, and price, and will fit in a zip-lock baggie, to be displayed in my booth at the arts-n-crafts place. Hope y'all like them! Even more, I hope my customers like them! Thanks for looking! Tom

Tom, that set is just beautiful. You did a great job with the groove wrap and it just lets those cabs make their own statement of wonderful.
Have wonderful success at the faire.

Those are very lovely Tom. I think its a great idea to make a set. Good luck but I dont think you need it. When the ladies see what you make they will be gone in a flash.

Thanks for all the compliments, everybody! Toad, this mariposite seems to be pretty solid, but it is probably too soft for tumbling. These were pretty easy to do on the Expando belts, but getting that final shine on them is pretty problematic - they would much rather be matte finish than glassy finish. But with a really light touch, the shine will come out. I have tried a few pieces of mariposite in both the rotary and vibe tumblers, and usually, what comes out is about 1/5 the size of what went in, and the finish is ok but marred by all the jostling. Oh yum! I love the greens too. Hope they sell quick, along with any other pieces you have there.

Tom: Mariposite is a favorite material of mine, that set looks stunning!!! I love it because it goes quick and I like quick!! Did you hit it with tin oxide? I used it on the pieces that I did and it put a nice shine on it, the white is much softer than the green parts! I hope it sells quickly for ya, I would buy it! Amber

Amber, for the final polishing, I am using various types of "Dynalap" discs stuck onto an 8" aluminum back plate mounted on the right end of my Lortone SA-8 arbor. I might have done this set with TO, but I really don't remember - usually I'll start with whichever type is recommended for that stone according to the "which polish for which stone" chart, see how that works, and if not satisfied, I'll change to another type, etc. until I like the shine. I use TO, Chrome oxide, Cerium, Aluminum Oxide, and "Spectra" Dynalaps. I get them here, from Kingsley North: www.kingsleynorth.com/skshop/search_results2.php?catID=185Tom
