I cut some of this on my saw today. It took about 40 minutes to go about 3.5". The stuff is full of what looks to be agate? It is white and has tiny orbs in it. They do not show in the picture. Then the rest looks like what I have seen of the material however it is full of pockets and is brittle in places. Is this normal for this rock or did I just happen to get a low quality piece?

Wish I knew what's 'normal' with this stuff. My only experience is a slab I picked up in Quartzsite last year that looks like the left center of your cut face there with the yellow lines over the dark material. Good luck with it!

I think it is a hit or miss with any rock. You just never know what the quality will be until you start cutting it. Maryanne goes through that all the time with her rocks. Sometimes they look promising and are just so so and others don't look that great at all and then she cuts them and they are amazing. I would say that if it took that long to cut it is pretty hard and will make some great cabs from part of it. Vugs and pockets are normal in any agatized rock, Looks like you may have ended up with more than normal though. Fran

I have only gotten slabs of this material but the person I bought it from led me to believe it cuts well. It does make a striking cab. Good luck with it.

I've cut quite a few slabs and cabs of Pilbarro Jasper. It takes a nice polish and the patterns and colors can be really intense. You never know what you got until you slab it.
Good luck!

What I have bought as ppicasso jasper is like the reticulated black and yeallow area mid left. The rest of the material has the colors of Mookite- and that's no coincidence as I understand Mookite comes from a nearby area. i love this stuff...your peide may be too vuggy to cut easily but i'd lap and display it as is. Really prettty.
